Question:

Do you let your cat into your bed or bedroom at night?

For an indoor cat is this something you should do?

But, if so, how do you get any sleep?

Or deal with the 3am requests for food / playing / jumping on head business?

Just asking...

  1. well i have a kitten and at first i was a bit unsure weather i should let her in my bedroom of a night time and for the first few weeks she slept in her own bed downstairs or on the landing but then one night i forgot to close my door and in the morning i woke up to her lay by the side of me... and she now has the choise of any of her many beds or ours

she also likes snuggling under the quilts

she knows not to wake us by playing in the night though

  2. I have two cats and i cant stop one of them sleeping with me coz if i shut the door he scratches the carpet to get in! but if your cat isnt bothered i wouldnt worry it wont change his personality!

  3. I have 7 cats of mine own... ages 9 down to 9 months... and am fostering 4 little ones that are 9 weeks old.  Our bedroom door is left open, and they come and go through the night as they please.  It's really just a matter of getting used to it... doesn't fizz us anymore when one jumps up on the bed, or off.

  4. For a week period when she was a kitten I let her.  But she wouldn't sleep near my head, always at the foot, and several times I night I would accidentally kick her.

Finally I closed the door.  It's not cruel...you have to sleep too.

  5. Yep I sure do! All 3 cats plus the dog sleep with me. 1 cat tends to wander off and only comes onto the bed now and then. The other 2 are always curled up with me.

I guess I got lucky because all 3 learned that waking me up unless there is a good reason, isn't going to work lol. I just ignored them when they pestered and they got the hint.

But then again there are 3 of them, so they do have each other to play with.

I personally think it forms a deeper bond when you share your bed with your animals. But not everyone feels the same way and I respect that. But I have 3 very well adjusted cats who all come when called by name, and are very cuddly, friendly cats.

But then again, I could have just gotten very lucky with those 3 huh? lol

  6. My cat is one of the most spoiled cats in the world, but he doesn't get to come into my bedroom at night. One of the reasons is that he's so nosy and he would just dig through stuff all night long. The other big reason is that he wouldn't let me sleep if he was in there.

  7. I love animals, but no I can't stand to have any of my animals sleeping in my bed, it drives me nuts. I don't usually let them in my bedroom when I'm sleeping. They are where they can get there food and water. but my cat can go in my room if need to, because about 12 yrs ago, the cat we had at the time saved our lives, a pillow fell off the bed and landing on a heater and caught on fire, my cat woke us up, It was very smokey in my house and we got the fire out and had to air out the house. So animals can do amazing things and I am so glad we were lucky to have that cat at the time. She died not long after that after having babies, and I do miss her. I thank the Lord for that.

  8. Sounds like you have a kitten. Mine are older but they do let me in the bed sometimes.

  9. i let mine in my bed. she knows where to go to the toilet when she need to p**s. i just leave the toilet door in my room open : )

  10. yes, i do. i have 8 cats aged from 2 yrs to 5 months. but only two of them sleep with me at night, the 1 yr and the 5 months.

the little one sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night, biting my foot or playing with my hair. while the older one keeps sleeping, curls up beside me.

i can't sleep most of the time but i don't mind. i'm used to it. they're pretty good sleeping partners. they don't snore.

  11. My cat doesn't sleep with people. He doesn't like to for some reason.

The bedroom doors are usually open but he spends the night sleeping on a recliner in the living room.

Around 7am, if no one's up yet, he goes around the house jumping up on the beds and nudging everyone until they wake up.

  12. our kitten is 5 months old and she comes in and out of the bedroom at night. if she starts being playful and annoying, we put her out and close the door for the night. she seems to have learnt now, and just lies down when she comes in. bless her.

  13. I used to let mine sleep with me every night and still do 1 night a week.  The reason being my husband  drives a wrecker at night and I have to keep my bedroom door closed so his phone doesn't wake me.  Because of having to keep the door closed, I can't let them sleep with me because they couldn't get out to drink water and use the litter box.  He doesn't work on Sunday, so they feel like they're getting a treat then!  lol

  14. When i first got my kitten he sleep in my bed and slept all through the night.  He sleeps anywhere now but i bought  him a basket. When hes not sleeping he runs around like an idiot. He usally wakes up at about 5-6am.

i think its okay to do this, be carefull with him on your bed tho, you might squish him or a friend of mine got scratched on the face and was VERY close to her eyes!

  15. All three of my cats sleep with me and I'm fine with it. The Siamese male sleeps like a rock and where he lays down to sleep at night is where you'll find him in the morning and he never bothers me at all. Once in a while the kitties get in the way when I get up in the middle of the night to go pee usually as soon as I move they will get out of the way but once in a while I have to give them a nudge before they will get up. I really don't think your kitty will mind not sleep with you if that's what you choose? You could buy it a kitty bed or make one from a box and a couple old clothes that you don't wear anymore. I'm sure your kitty will be happy with that arrangement. Anyway pleasant dreams for you and kitty! :o)

  16. How funny. I have had cats before and I could never sleep with them running around. You know they pounce on you in the middle of the night and scare the **** out of you. However, the cat I have now is different, he knows not to bother me at night I made it very clear in the beginning. If you jump on me you are going to regret it.

  17. I can't let mine sleep with me due to allergies...but they tend to sleep all over the house.
