Question:

Do you like Athar Ali Khan as a commentator?

He is probably Bangladesh's only commentator with playing experience and cricketing knowledge. However, he does make serious gaffes as a commentator. Once, an Indian bowler bowled to Younis Khan and appealed for lbw. Aleem Dar, the umpire, gave him out. Athar Ali Khan's comment: "Younis Khan has to go because Aleem Dar is pointing to the heavens"! (see the joke?)

Can anyone give me any other examples of gaffes from Athar Ali Khan or any other commentator?

  1. no

  2. You want more gaffes from Athar? Well, every word is speaks, every line he constructs is a masterpiece. He's actually made a name for himself in the horrendous world of obscurity !

  3. I'm really impressed from Athar Ali Khan's commentry, he's a really good commentator, unbiased opinions & intelligence. I remember quite a few of his moments. Remember the test match in Pakistan few years ago, Bangladesh lost by one run because Inzi stood up till the end, that could've been really disappoing from a Bangladeshi's view but Athar showed professionalism & praised Inzamam's innings & held the commetary really well during that match.

  4. I like Athar Ali Khan (AAK) as a commentator, being a Bangladeshi myself!

In my opinion he is the only cricket commentator from here who do have potential to become another mini-Ravi Shastri if AAK is given enough opportunity by the big players in the telecommunication biz (lol).

I know that his voice is lacking some 'pounding' that we are used to hear from the famous commentators, but his potential is great and needs a bit of nurturing to make a very fine and gentle commentators from this subcontinent.

    Good Luck to AAK!
