Yes I've been playing 5 years of it.  It gets you really motivated playing all the games and you have to think on your feet,so playing basketball has really helped me think in school.  It helps keep the brain running and it's a great work out.  I go to the gym 3 days a week during the summer and 5 days a week during school.
