  1. I don't like them but they are a part of racing. Sometimes you profit from them and sometimes you lose. There is some skill involved with saving fuel but luck and math play a larger role.

  2. it does take a lot of skill to be able to calculate and manipulate your car to be able to save that much gas... get over it junior won

  3. I dont mind them. It makes the ending of the race more interesting.

  4. you know what if kyle Busch had won i would of congratulate him and his fans and left it alone end of story well i pro bally would of had to even defend him a time or two from idiots that ask dumb questions but i would of because I'm a true nascar fan and not a basher and you know what Jr won so get over it it's not like anyone cares what you think and your opinion is not gonna change anything so leave it alone already!!

  5. Most of the drivers, if they are low on fuel and it's at the end of the race, will try to save it.  I've seen a lot of races end just over the start/finish line because of that.  I just never saw it quite like it was done yesterday.

I Know what you mean Wooley Booley.   Sad isn't it?  I have only been a "fan" since 1994...but so much has changed since even then.

  6. it doesn't take ALOT of skill from the DRIVER [but they do need to be able to save as much fuel as possible...but it doesnt take skill as in driving ability], but sometimes it shows how good of a strategy a team has..but other times it's just the team & driver taking a chance.

so no, i don't like fuel mileage wins.

but if that's what it comes down to, so be it.

Jr. still got a win sunday

    :]

  7. yes, strategy is a  huge part of racing, wether it's fuel strategy, tire strategy, or what have you. if the best car always won, we'd know who was going to win early in the race, so there'd be no point in watching the finish. we get it pizza face, you hate junior and you're having a hard time dealing with his wsin yesterday. but you need to get used to it, there'll be plenty more wins where that one came from.

  8. I hate it, unless its my driver... Its just because the field is so strung out that there is no really good racing to the finish!

I think JR was due for a win in the first place, but it is the wild card of all races... this is why I am not a fan of Indy car racing, there is a lot of saving gas and uninteresting racing.

  9. No. I like performance wins.

  10. its all part of racing =get over it

  11. They're not my favorites, but sometimes that's what it comes down to.

And it's Mears, not Meers, and Kyle Busch, not Kyl Bush

And if Kyle won because of fuel mileage, so be it!

  12. I like the fuel mileage wins just because it actually adds some excitement to the boring races where one person dominates the entire time and there is no challenge for the lead at the end of the race. It kinda puts you on the edge of your seat because people could run out of gas and crash or something.

  13. YES. It takes all kinds. Why doesn't anyone cry if a driver takes two tires instead of four and wins? It's all part of racing and using the car you have that day to the best of your abilities. Sometimes you gamble with tires or fuel or a short run set up vs. a long run set up. Rarely does the absolute fastest car win, otherwise we could just give the pole winner the trophy and all go home. Where's the fun in that?

  14. I think they add to the drama of the race.  Not to mention, with all that they have done to make the cars "equal" it is good that there is still a few things that crew chiefs and pit crews can do to have some affect on the race.  I have seen fuel mileage backfire on a driver too.  Instead of winning or even have a top ten finish, I have seen drivers end up 20+. So it makes tings more interesting!

  15. no, and I've lost interest in NASCAR because of the uncompetitive cookie cutter tracks, the COT (Checker Cab with a wing). I'm a fifty year fan, used to fly all over the USA to as many races as I could. Did everyone notice at least 50,000 vacant seats at Michigan? It isn't the economy or gas prices, France family and NASCAR have trashed it. I quit buying season tickets two years ago at MIS, had been a season ticket holder since 1969.

  16. Fuel mileage races are not my cup of tea but it is strategy so it is the same as any other kind of win.

  17. no but I'm glad Jr. won

  18. No,they suck!!! it takes the racing equation out of it. I think that everyone should have to make a mandatory pit stop toward the end of the race to fill up with enough fuel to finish, then line back up the way they were and RACE to the finish so the better car/driver will win and NOT the luckiest one!!!

  19. It happens all the time, if not fuel then tires. A big part of racing is the gambles you take. In Jr's case Sunday, if he had pitted, he would have ended up about 25th or so, and ended up the same if he ran out of gas, so why not take the chance? Any driver would have done it and I would give them props for being gutsy and taking the chance of losing points even if the driver happened to be my least favorite.
