Boring. That they hang on at all and are popular is a sad commentary on American culture and voyeurism.

Humiliating people for cheap laughs is pathetic. The truly funny, like Michael Feldman, are almost unknown, but his show on NPR is a scream. And nobody's feelings are hurt.

depends what kind of shock.  The f**t and s*x joke stylings of howard stern, not so much.  The way out there politics and calling people out by name, im a fan of.  It all gets pretty redundant after awhile though.
