Supernova

Here’s a little thought.

No matter who you were,

no matter where you are,

every bit of you was born

from an exploded star.

Is it not enough?

Claim your birthright now

claim your pedigree.

Shout it to the heavens,

a nova became me!

  1. Nice thought, but I think it's theory, interesting poem.

I owned a Chevy Nova and the engine blew, I wasn't hurt by it so I guess what you say is possible.

I learned two things... it's no fun to ride in a Nova,

and  you don't want to be born in the backseat of one.

  2. So true, so true. The first line and the last line work perfectly with each other to complete the circle, a geometrical shape that represents life (that's all I ever got from algebra).

  3. But not necessarily the hydrogen!

But I like the French Revolution era politics in the second stanza-- an unexpectedly social juxtaposition.

  4. That's interesting...a nice reversal at the end, too.  Cosmic, celestial - light for a reader's mind and food for thought due to a vagueness...

If it's not too much trouble:  http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

  5. Last night the Science Channel said "we are all born from stardust, or, on the other hand from star debris." They also said Earth was seeded from Mars!  Shiite!  You beat me to it!!

  6. I like astronomical meditations when you break them down into bite size chunks I can understand....

Is this the reason I was told that before I was born I was just a twinkle in my Dad's eye?

A neat little poem - liked it.

  7. Aw shucks maam, ain't nobody ever called me a star before... Golly! Maam, I had my meditation too:

If I am made of elements that formed within a star

Why is it that I do not like to travel near and far?

If I exist because a star evolved to C-N-O

How come I'm dumb (that's goin' some), how come I did

         not know?

If I'm the b*****d child of deep intrastellar fusion

How come my ma and pa did not tell me of the confusion?

And if my hydrogen's existed since the ol' Big Bang

How come I ain't passed chemistry and can not get the

         hang...?

Maam, I think you blinked and took me for some other guy

I'm from the earth, been so since birth, will be until I die.

  8. "Deep time is a stew in which no spoon can be dipped."

  9. It a nice simple poem, with a good message. A change from what I write :)

It brought up some nice visuals as well, so good writing

  10. This is a really cool idea. I love your thought-provoking lines:

every bit of you was born

    from an exploded star.

    a nova became me!

It's a nice idea to write about.

  11. i love this. absolutely.

  12. This one twinkles for me!

  13. as a child, an older sibling told me that i was born of a shooting star...thank you for putting that into words. just wonderful.
