I like cats better because the wash themselves and there more quiet and desolate and they like to sleep with you at night ( there so soft !! )

depends. if your home a lot and have time to take care of and do activities with then a dog. . .

but if you dont have all of the time in the world a cat. . .

so either or but both are good choices i guess

I have 3 cats right now and I have had a dog before. My answer is dogs by far.

Cats, for the most part, are a very selfish pet. They do what they want to do whenever they want to do it, even it if it is peeing on your couch/bed/floor. No matter how much discipline i give all of my cats they continue to do whatever they want to do whenever they want to do it. Though they do provide love and affection, when they want it.

Dogs on the other hand are very giving. If raised correctly they will do whatever you want them to do. They have a pack oriented mentality meaning if you prove to them that you are the leader, they will follow.

Cats are not pack oriented and consider themselves to be everyone and everythings boss/master.

it just depends on whether you want a pet that is self-reliant or a pet that needs to be taken care of.

I, presonally, like dogs better because they are more affectionate, easier to train, and more protective. I also like cats too but I just like dogs better.

I like both.  

My cats are great pets because they are loving, affectionate, clean, and entertaining.  

My dog is a great pet because she is loving, affectionate, and also acts as a protector both at home and whenever she comes along with me on hikes and camping trips.  

Both species bring joy into my life.

Cats are less work because they wash themselves and don't need walks or lots of attention. But, they're typically less loyal than dogs, although I've had many friendly cats. Dogs are the opposite: they need lots of attention, walks, and baths, but they tend to be much more friendly and loyal.

I think I like them both equally.

I like both, but I'd have to go with dogs. They are loyal, more fun to play with, and they sleep in your bed with you. My dog, makes sure I'm ok. She checks on me if I've been in the restroom to long. She's great. I love her to pieces. Go dogs!!!!

That's like comparing apples and oranges; they are two very different types of animals.

Cats are "easier" as they clean themselves and you don't have to take them outside to go to the bathroom.

Dogs have their perks too...my dogs are much more willing to play and cuddle with me, sort of like the old "man's best friend" saying.

It really depends on personal preference.  If you like cats, go rescue a kitten at your local shelter!
