  1. lol its not that bad.  except when they put me behind this machine which blew air in my eye, and i did not see it coming lol.  other then that its allright.

  2. I don;t mind it at all. Much nicer than other doctor type places.

  3. No. It is the least favorite doctor to visit. When I was a child(eight) I would sleep with my eyes a tad bite open. I had many problems and would go at least once a week and then once a month. Once they found out what was wrong I was told I could go blind. After a while of my mother putting in eye drops at night my eyes got better. The problem has cleared up. Once a year I go for a check up and my eyes have to be dilated. I cannot stand all the eye drops and the looking in my eyes with the machines(especially the glaucoma test). My eye doctor is very nice, I just do not like my eyes being dilated. Every year I go the nurse and doctor have the hardest time doing the glaucoma test. I do not like to be touched, so getting the blue light near my eye makes me back away. Last year was the first time(I was 25) I was able to let them get the blue light in my eyes.

  4. I hate going.

Considering at the age of 20 the pervy b@stard got me in the chair in the darkened room & proceded to hit on me while right up in my face, looking into my eyes....I was literally trapped, unable to go anywhere.  The b@stard.

I hate going & now will never go alone.

  5. Yeah, I like it all except for the glaucoma test.

  6. I don't mind, at least I'll know my eye sight is ok and I'll see better if my prescription needs changing.....the worst is a dentist!!!

  7. yes, i like the hot secretary.

  8. I apologize for my long story in advance, thanks for reading.

I hated going to the optometrist/ophthalmologist as a child.  It was one of the worst experiences I ever had.  I have strabismus and I hated all the treatment attempts the doctor made to correct it.  First my stronger eye was patched in order to help the weaker eye, then they prescribed eyeglasses that made me really sick in addition to the patch (I am glad my parents did not force me to keep wearing them).  Then I had two surgeries for it where the doctor did not explain what he was doing and I was terrified.  I was prescribed eye drops after each of the surgeries and my horrible doctor told me that if I did not let me my parents put the drops in my eyes that I would go blind because the little vessels in my eyes would grow over my eyes.  I was four and five when I had the surgeries done.  In my opinion this doctor should not have been allowed to care for children at all.  He was a horrible monster that often gave me nightmares as a child.

I went to vision therapy for a year or so after the surgeries with another doctor after I expressed my firm dissatisfaction with the previous one.  I eventually got over it for the most part.  I was prescribed eyeglasses again as a teenager and had similar reaction to when I was a kid.  I think I was still scarred from the previous attempt as a child that I refused to wear them.  My right eye still has normal vision so I did not feel the need to wear them.

I still had regular eye exams over the next few years and was prescribed eyeglasses to correct the vision in my left eye after almost every visit that I did not actually have filled until I was almost 30 years old when my right starting having problems compensating for my weaker left eye.

I actually like my optometrist now and trust him.  It took a while to build that trust and I no longer consider those visits to be horrible.

I actually told my current optometrist about the horrible doctor I had a as a child and he knew the doctor's name just by the story I told about him.  He also said he recognized the doctor's work when examining me, but did not want to say anything at the time.
