  1. Souther Alberta is considered Lethbridge and further south. Calgary is considered central Alberta but they are very similar atmospheres. The further south, the warmer the weather and the flatter the land. I have lived in Southern Alberta for 14 years and i love it...it's perfect for me and my family. One thing about living in Southern alberta is the towns are very conformed....but lethbridge isn't and it's one of the best places i've ever been.

  2. I lived in Calgary for 35 years. And I loved it! You are very close to the mountains. you are also very close to The Badlands which are interesting, especially if you are into dinosaurs and fossils. The Bow runs right through it with a lovely walkway along it and where the Canadian Geese like to hang out.

There is always something going on at Stampede Park, Princes Island, Max Bell, the Jubilee Auditorium and/or Heritage Park. Calgary has it's own Philharmonic Orchestra if you like classical music. There are lots of  clubs and restaurants. In the summer the hot air balloonists  take to the skies and it is always a fun, free show to watch.

There are about 20 or 25 museums. The Glenbow right downtown is pretty awe inspiring and often have special visiting shows. Another that I liked was the Military Museum on Crowchhild Trail across from Currie Barracks.

Calgary has a very impressive zoo right off Memorial Drive.

Sports wise, well it is pretty well set up for winter sports, and has been since the 1988 Olympics were held there. On special occasions, the Olympic Flame atop the Calgary Tower lights up the sky. And let's not forget it is the home of the Calgary Stampeders and the Calgary Flames.

Getting around is generally pretty easy, especially in the older part of town where the streets are numbered and generally on a grid. The LRT is clean and fast.

Yup!  Calgary is a pretty special place!

  3. Where are you thinking of?  Lethbridge is a beautiful, clean, smaller city that actually has the best average year round temperature of anywhere in Canada.  I suppose Calgary could be considered Southern Alberta, and it is a wonderful city to live in.  Love those chinooks!

  4. I'm near Calgary and love the fact we are so close to the mountains.  Wouldn't want to live anywhere else.  :)
