Jan C gave a good and thoughtful answer, but I cannot agree that it "totally depends" on what you're using it for.

On every computer you're always managing files and you're probably surfing the internet and using it for transactions. In these regards the Mac is much simpler, easier and safer.

I use PC's at work and a Mac at home, and I'm very familiar with both. I can't see any reason why anyone would prefer a PC except that they tend to be cheaper, and, of course, it's what the masses use, and that is an advantage to some.

There is actually nothing that most people do on a PC that you couldn't do on a Mac -- there's tons of software for both. True, some Mac owners tend to be smug, but there is some justification for that. Apple has struggled in the past, but at least they gave us innovations. We should all be grateful they've been around. If we only had Microsoft we would still be using 16-bit machines running DOS. But don't get a Mac just to support Apple -- they are better machines, and Apple is not going away.

Do I like Macs? Yes, but I'm a Graphic Designer and Macs are without a doubt best suited for that application. But I also run Linux and Windows on seperate PC's. It totally depends on what you use your PC for and there will be many different views depending on personal preferences.

To answer your question properly: Yes. I absolutely adore the Mac.

I've nothing against them whatsoever, but I do dislike the smug superior type who generally favour them. Mac have their flaws too - they're not the sleek white perfection machine they're oft made out to be.

Furthermore, no, they're NOT necessarily 'the best' for graphic art and design, they're just the industry standard.
