Question:

Do you like pirate stories?

I am writing a prequel to Treasure Island called Pieces of Eight. I loved the book Treasure Island and the character of Long John Silver. I think his life story would be fun to tell, but by a historical point of view, using the real history of pirates and the Caribbean as a backdrop for the story.

Would you be interested in reading a book like this or not?

  1. uh depends on how well written it is

and if the characters are written with depth

    but probably yah

  2. I personally don't like Pirate books. My friend does, and I nod and smile, and maybe I'll try another, but generally I end up comparing them to Pirates of the Caribbean. Which I know I shouldn't, but I can't help it.

  3. No, i think that pirate stories are like Gipsy's stories . They steal and didn't take showers often. Even though i think they were interesting, but i wouldn't waste my time reading such kinds of stories. I respect that you like it and there are many people who like it. I am only answering your question. Good luck with your writing!

  4. I think it becomes increasingly difficult to write pirate "period" stories. It isn't that people wont enjoy them, just that the mechanics of pirate ships, the newly colonized Caribbean, and the proper terminology are harder to come by since we are moving further and further from boats. The majority of readers probably do not know the difference between stern, port, aft, etc.

Do your research and it will be a smash.

  5. yes, it does matter how well it is written, but i would definitely read it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
