Do you like the 18 hole playoff system at the US Open?

Or would you prefer to see a three hole playoff or a sudden death playoff? Personally, I find it very frustrating that we didn't have a winner declared today and that we'll have to sit through another 18 holes between just two guys before its over. Do you think its time the US Open change this format or should things stay as they are? Its the only major to have this system.

  1. i think 18 is too lengthy, as one person can pull ahead early, and make the people lose interest after the first 4 or 5 holes....and usually the better ranked player wins over the course of another 18......i think 1 is too little, but i like anywhere from 3-9 holes....short, and to the point.....they endured 72 holes, i think they would rather 9 than 18

  2. I do  like it. The most prestigious tournament in the world deserves eighteen holes, one, even three holes, can be fluky.

  3. I absolutely love it!

Sudden death would suck, because one player could mess up the tee shot and be ONE and done. Tourney over with.

All 18 holes in stroke play is going to be tight, I just hope that it is close.

  4. I agree that the system is horrible, because great players are at a major advantage for the reason of pressure, another day of rest, and knowing the golf course better. The fans also  get ripped, because their is no tension at the end of a major if it has a playoff for the reason we know the winner after 12  holes usually. I think a 3 hole playoff would better or a 9 hole playoff would be better.

  5. Not for all tourneys but for the championship of the USA, an extra day to decide the best is just fine.

  6. From the perspective of the integrity of the sport, it is probably fine the way they way the run it now with an 18 hole playoff.  However, as a fan who just invested the better part of my weekend to watch the tournament coverage I am very disappointed not to have the chance to watch the end of the tournament due to work responsibilities.

I personally would like to see a 6 hole playoff, played the same day as the final round.  If that means they need to tee off everyone an hour earlier then so be it.

  7. I prefer the sudden death playoff. It demands more from the players both mentally and phsyically. If Tiger would have had to play more holes last night, he would have been beaten by Rocco because of the condition of his knee. It will be interesting to see what happens today. I do not remember the last U.S. Open playoff so i would like to see how this goes. May the best man win
