  5. makes the heart grow fonder

  6. It is just the French word for wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) A strange choice for a baby.

  7. good old Slappy

  8. Actually, I think without the negative connotation, Absinthe (pronounced AB-sin-THEE) would be an awesome name.

It's a shame such a pretty word was used for a hallicenogenic booze made from wormwood.

  9. No.

    Libby

    Libya

    Liddia

    All sound much better!

  10. Satan is a cute name.  Or maybe Satanique!  That means "Snake Charmer" in MY culture, which is clearly better than yours.

  11. And it also means a hallucinagenic drink that was banned 50 years ago in America.

Not only will your child look like an idiot with that name, you will look like a drunk junkie.

I say scratch that a pick a new one. For everyones sake.

  12. Absinthe is a highly distilled alchoholic beverage.

    Good ol' Slappy.

  13. While I have always had a soft spot in my heart for chimeric names. I spent a lot of time immersed in the chimerical culture as a child. I really do not care for this one.

  14. Luv it.

    Keep em coming Slappers.

  15. No it does not mean that!  Absinthe is a hallucinogenic liquor, not a princess.  Why not name her Artemis after the wormwood - artemisia - that is used in making Absinthe?  She was a strong virgin goddess of the moon and the hunt, protector of pregnant or nursing animals and women.  A far more fortuitous and comely name then a drug.

  16. I assume that you have a baby girl now. Or she is on her way. So congrats on the new bundle of joy =)

I think that that is a lovely name for a baby girl! "Abby" could very well become a nickname for her.

  24. Man, I love Absinthe.

  25. it reminds of being absent in calss...please name her charming princess instead

  26. I like it better than Brandi or Shampayne.  Of course it might lead a certain type of person to make silly jokes like Absinthe maketh the heart grow fonder.  How about Anise?  That's the name of the herb used in flavoring Absinthe.  Or how about Wormwood?  That is also a component and it's the name of Screwtape's diabolical nephew in CS Lewis's unforgettable The Screwtape Letters.

  27. Oh my God. You are such a little *****.

  28. Oh, come on, you can do better then an alcoholic drink, can't you?

  29. I'm green with envy that I didn't think of the name first!

  30. Thats a strange name.......sry.......

  31. The meaning is great but not the name.
