I like the name Helina.

I'm not sure if I like Helina (Hah-LEE-nuh) or Helena (Heh-LAY-nuh) better.

Helina is Russian and means light from the sun.

Helena has a Greek route meaning wicker seed/

Which one is better?

Also, what would be a better nickname: Holly or Hallie?

  1. No I do not like that name one bit. It sounds made-up.

But a nickname would be Hallie

  2. I like it too!

And I like it more than Helena, and the pronunciation problem adds to that.

I'd say Holly fits better with Helina, and Hallie with Helena.

I also like Lina as a nickname for Helina.

  3. no

  4. I like Helena better than Helina.  Helina just sounds awkward.

  5. Maybe Haley, Harley, Hayden, or Selena

  6. why dont u try spelling it like helaena.. i like how helaynuh sounds..

  7. There are two Helena's at my school as well as one Helina. No one ever mispronounces Helena's name, but even if they did, why would that matter?

Two of them of them all use the nickname Helly, while the other uses Hellie, (same pronouncing, different spelling.) But I like your nicknames better.

If I were you, I would use Holly, I don't know why. Just because.

    xo goodluck

  8. I absoloutly loooooooooooove the name Helina!!!!!!!!!!!  I like the first pronunciation waaaaaaaaay better!  As for the nicknames, I like both a lot!  But if I had to choose, I would choose Holly probably.  Good luck!

  9. for the pronounciation Hah-lee-nuh

    the spelling Helena

    and nickname Hallie [Hay-lee]

    but thats just me =]
