Do you like the name Howard?

Question

It is the name of my husband's grandfather who has passed away and he is serious about using it as a first name for our baby. I'm not so sure about it and see it more as a middle name. Can you help us out w/ possible middle names or even a first name that would sound good w/ it as a middle name?

YES! i do think Howard is a good name esspecially because it is a family name and a middle could be some thing like micheal or anthony

Honestly, no.  I would use it as a middle name.  It is still paying homage to your hubbie's grandfather.  If you named your baby Howard, the kids in school would call him "Howie".  I just don't care for it and I don't think you do either.  Here's some ideas for first names that would sound okay with Howard as a middle name:

Howard is outdated and old sounding.  I would def only use it as a *possible* middle name.

I am actually in the same situation. Find out what Howard's middle name was. Then try to create a name made up of both names. I.e. my grandpa was named Ted Walton, I am trying convenience my husband on the name Dalton. Good luck!

I would understand it more as a middle name too. How about these first names:

I just thought maybe these names would sound good with Howard, I guess you could also switch the name around so Howard is the first name but it wouldn't sound as good as I wrote it. Here are some names with Howard as the first name:
