Do you like the name Katie?

Question

My husband's grandmother is 86. Her name is Katharine. Everybody calls her Katie. This would be her first biological grandchild, and unless we have more kids, probably the only one she's going to get. If we have a girl we would love to surprise her and name our child after her. I like Katie but it sounds a bit plain. I'm not sure I adore the name Katharine though- a bit stuffy maybe? Are there any other names which could be shortened to Katie? I thought of Katarina and Katrina, also the spelling of Kathryn....

Any other names you can think of that would be shortened to Katie?

Our last name is Wright.

I'm quite fond of the name Katie. I know a Kaitlyn, named after a Kathrine and a Lynn, and she spells it Kaiti. My preference would be Katlyn, but Kathryn, Katharine, and Kathleen are all lovely.
