Do you like the name VESPER for a GIRL?

Question

I think it's such a nice strong name for a girl. I was just thinking of Vesper Lynd and it dawned on me what a lovely name it is.

My only problem is that there is obviously the Vespa scooters, but that is spelt differently and I don't think it really matters. It doesn't make the name Vesper any less nice.

What do you think?

vesper, mmm i agree with the scooter and viper wasp comments above, but its up to you, more imortantly she has to live with it. have u cosidered sticking a modern conventional name in their too, so she can choose later if she wants too.

Peronally i wouldn't but then i've got Jamie Ben Sam Alex and Adam, five names hardly out of the norm, but the boys themselves all five are very different and specail x x

I do like it.  To Catholics the world over it will mean the evening prayer.  To the non religious it might suggest the Vespa scooter but what's wrong with that?  They're cute and very popular.

I personally don't like it because at first glance it looked like Vespa or viper, but you seem to already set your heart on it so name your child whatever you want.  Just don't scar her for life.

Hopefully Ford, Chrysler, Talbot or Renault would never be her surnames otherwise she would have some trouble to start with in the locomotion business.

Please think of the child and the problems a "beautiful" name can give her in real life.

honestly the first thing i thought about when i saw that was vespa. like the scooter. i've never heard of vesper as a name. it sounds like a snake or a scooter. idk. very unique, that's for sure. prolly would blend in fine with some of today's names.

I quite like the name Vesper, and it means Evening in Latin. Even though I like it, it doesn't mean I'll use it.

In the long run, you've got to think of what your daughters future is going to be like, and if you can have any nicknames for her. Unless you like Vesp, Vessie, Ves or Sper there aren't many - and all these names sound just wrong.

If you want to be unique then try some Latin names, but don't make them overly unique especially when your little girl can be teased for a scooter!
