I loved the old name and logo, California Speedway, with the crossed searchlights like old Hollywood. Now it's just BLAH AAA with checkerboard.

I live 10 miles from the speedway, so I"m there twice a year. I prefer the Nationwide series to the Sprint. Not so huge a crowd and seating is more comfortable. I know they've remodeled some since last spring...can't wait for tomorrow to see what's happened.

GO CARL!!!!

  1. it drives me crazy trying to remember the changed names of things and as soon as i learn one then it changes again.

i have actually got into nationwide a lot this year.  i have enjoyed all three for different reasons, truck, nationwide and cup.

have fun..my once a year live race is homestead which is 1 hr away from me.

  2. I really don't care for it when the tracks change their name to accommodate corporate sponsorship. I don't like it in Football and Baseball, either. I don't call Sonoma/Sears Point  Infineon, and I will continue to refer to California as California or Fontana.

And you're right, that new logo is really drab. They paid someone a lot of money to come up with that. You'd think it could be a little more creative.

Have fun at the race! I'm jealous, but then I'm jealous every week when someone says they're going to the race. If I win the lottery, I'm going to every single one! :-)

  3. Enoy the race tomorrow and good luck to Carl but the logo was the most exciting part of that track and now that's gone...

  4. The new name...eh not so much. I kinda don't like when corps./co.s buy into tracks and rename them, but I guess thats how it is these days...

  5. I'm still calling it California Speedway and I probably will be for the next 10 years.

  6. I do agree that the old logo looked much better; the new one is just so bland.

I still call it California Speedway and that will probably never change. Just like I refer to Toyota Speedway at Irwindale as just Irwindale Speedway.

Sponsors can buy those tracks and change the names all they want but I will still be calling them California and Irwindale, as will a lot of other people I'm sure.
