Exhaust fumes contains of many unhealthy chemicals coming from the combustion. You should avoid them whether you like the smell or not.

No, I'm extremely sensitive to it in fact and can smell a bad exhaust several car lengths away.  It gives me an instant pounding headache - carbon monoxide is bad for you.  It's usually coming from old cars but can also come from newer vehicles that have been modified to burn fuel more inefficiently and that bypass their catalytic converters.  I report these pigs spewing their filth into the air to the air quality people every chance I get!

I like the smell of jet exhaust. It bring to mind the excitement of the airport, where people are going to exciting, distant places. And it reminds me of barbecue, because like lighter fluid, it is made from kerosene.

But car and truck exhaust just smells bad.
