Do you like this girl's name?

Bev

It would be short for Beverly or Bevan. I know Beverly is kind of an old-fashioned, and Bevan is masculine, but old-fashioned nicknames are making a comeback, and women are naming their girls Kennedy here and there. So, really, what I'm asking is, do you like "Bev"

  1. My suggestion? Name her Beverly, and call her Bev. That way she will have the choice of which she would like to be called later on in life.

  2. No not really to be honest

  3. To be honest, I choose names why what do I think of the first second the name is said. When I hear Beverly I think of an old, fat, white women, with shorty grey hair.

I'm sorry, if you like it that is what matters but just think about your child and if they will like it. Is this going ot be for a boy or girl? I think Kennedy is adorable.

  4. Ew, no. Not for a girl. Beverly is okay, but please don't name her Bevan. Bev is just kind of ugly...sorry.

  5. I love Bev.

My daughter's name is Margaret and I sometimes, laughingly, find myself calling her Marge. hahaha

Bev is much prettier than Marge.

  6. How about Bevin? Or Bebhinn? Bebhinn is the Irish spelling of Bevin. It's pronounced the same way.

Bebhinn= Irish ~ An accomplished singer.

Bevin= Welsh ~ Daughter of Evan.

I know a girl named Bebhinn, and she's really into theatre and singing. She's my sister's friend, and to tell you the truth, she IS a really good singer and actress. Funnily enough, she is Irish!

  7. No, not really. It sounds too old-fashioned. Kennedy is a pretty name, but Beverly is just too old-ladyish and isn't very pretty. I think it's a blunt name used for someone who works in a diner.

  8. I can only think of Beverley Knight. I prefer the longer names than the shorter version, ultimately its your choice and though I cannot t hink of a single thing wrong with it, I dont eally like it (which was your question)

  9. Don't love it, but definitely Beverly over Bevan, that's just bad.

  10. i'm not crazy about bevan but i love love love beverly.

if you wanted to do bevan, then do a feminine middle name:

    Bevan Marie

    Bevan Angelina

    Bevan Noelle

    Bevan Michelle

    Bevan Raquel

    Bevan Veronica

    Bevan Louise.

  11. Bev sounds nice, though another version of the name, also rather nice, is Bez which I recommend. ;) Not too sure about Beverly though.

  12. Yes, I think it is a nice name.  I know quite a few people with that name and they are all nice people.  Nothing wrong with old-fashioned names, especially when people are naming their children after fruit or other commodities.  Besides, if you like the name, what others think shouldn't matter.  Just keep in mind that your son/daughter is the one who has to carry that name for the rest of their lives so make sure it is a name that won't cause them too much teasing or hearache.  good luck!

  13. Elegant.  That's what I think.  Beverly I mean.

  14. Beverly is a nice name but I have never heard the name Bevan before; I have to agree with most other people here on that - not a very attractive name. "Bev" is alright for a grown woman but I can't imagine calling a little girl "Bev"...sounds a bit weird. That's only my opinion though!

  15. i like it. Bev is cool. and i like beverly better than bevan. but both are cool modern different names.

  16. No not at all.

  17. No do not name her that

    It sounds like a BEAVER

    she will be teased

  18. Personally no I don't like Bev, you also have to consider the child and that their name also suits as an adult, maybe as a second name yes but not as a first name sorry :(

  19. no not at all

  20. I really dont like old-fashion names. i really like the name Summer

  21. its very simple and cute but it's a name that's a "mom's style." It sounds like a name mom's would use on their daughters like honey or something

  22. beverly is a very cute name

  23. No not really

  24. Yes, I like the name. I work with a girl named Bev and she is cute and spunky. I don't believe it to be associated with old fashion names any longer.
