  1. I have ridden sidesaddle, it is so ellegant and because of the double pommel is incredibly safe.  The Pommel is gripped between your legs with the stirrup pulled up for support.  I would say it is impossible to fall off and so is great for jumping but a friend of mine managed to fall of at a walk although no-one knows how! lol  It does take a bit of getting used to getting your balance in the centre but once you've got it it is an amazing way to ride.

  2. I would love to try side saddle! Sometimes I sit side saddle in my English saddle (just for kicks- it doesn't work out to well). I would probably even jump, too, if I was used to the side saddle. The only thing holding me back is the expense of a side saddle. :) Cool question! Star for you! <3

  3. I've always had a goal to try riding each style. I would love to try riding side saddle. I tried to use my western saddle that way, but it wasn't that smart of an idea (kind of painful actually). But, as for jumping side saddle, I would be a bit afraid. I think it would be amazing to try, though.

  4. Oh yeah! I would love to give it a try.

I would probably horribly embarrass myself, but who cares, it would be fun! I'm always up for trying something new and sidesaddle is something I've never considered before. Oh boy, now my husband is gonna have it out for you when I tell him I want to purchase a new saddle for a faze that will probably last me a week...LOL

The jumping thing is amazing, but I wouldn't DARE attempt it myself, I'd end up seriously hurt with my luck and skill...haha

  5. On a dare once I rode a Passo in sidesaddle. Yes a guy riding side saddle. That was one of the smothest rides I have ever had. I was just kinda weird riding with both feet on the same side. I say go for it.

Ps. I am glad there are no photo's of me riding side saddle. I already have too much blackmail evidence on me already.

  6. Hello Shadow,

We always do stuff on our horses, not only to challenge ourselves but to see how the horses except different things!

Our things we do are trying our horses here is a few examples:

    crossing creeks/rivers

    stepping over logs

    going through bushes

    walking on boulders

    across bridges

    over obstacles

    opening and closing gates

    under limbs

    on tarps

    bareback in a halter

    bareback bridless/halterless

    standing and riding on them

    riding backwards

    cattle work

    different patterns (barrels, poles, etc...)

WE all can ride sideways on our horses, but in our old standard western saddles...  WE always are s******g around trying to out do each other!  I call it our "dumb*** cowboy tricks"

BUT, our horses are USED and level headed...I DO NOT recommend anyone try any my suggestions!

We always expose our horses to lots of things...  it is fun and your confidence in them and the horses confidence in you keeping them safe MAKES them willing to try and do just about anything is unbeatable.

  7. O yes! I plan on traveling aroung the world and learning how to ride in all sorts of different styles!

  8. wow jumping side saddle would be a treat i have enough trouble learning to jump straddling lol

i would also like to try saddle seat, and barrel racing and poles those i have never done! also dressage! i'm such a newbie when it comes to horse sports! it all fascinates me!

  9. When I do my warm-ups whenever, sometimes I ride side-saddle, but in a regular english saddle. I've even done backwards riding a few times. Anyways, it's not like I would buy a side-saddle or anything because I'm not that seriously into it. I've done western, bareback, learning english currently, a little bit of jumping, barrel racing.. a lot of other stuff too.

  10. If i trusted my horse he** ya!

  11. Are you kidding ?

I would love to try sidesaddle ( just not on my horses - they are far too spooky ) As for jumping, I saw a demonstration at the college last year and there were these 2 girls doing a course of jumps sidesaddle ( not small jumps either) It was amazing.

I'd also love to try western and do some more driving.

  12. I like trying new things!  I would definitely try out riding sidesaddle, but I really have no interest in doing it regularly or showing sidesaddle.

  13. persionally it has never interested me.

i would LOVE to have a go at western though, i love the bond you get, just like what i have with my horse, but im an english rider.

i would also be terrified of the side saddle slipping!!
