I think Court TV is a great way to learn about the legal system, SOME aspects of practicing law (but not all by any means), law enforcement, forensics, science, and more.  It also gives young people an eye into some careers they might not have realized exist.  

When I was in law school, not surprisingly, Court TV was a big hit with my classmates and me.  I happened to be in law school during the OJ-trial years.  I remember watching the "slow speed chase" at a bar with a group of friends, and also watching the verdict in the student lounge.  [Note:  The reaction to the verdict was clearly divided down racial lines, including both students and professors.  I though that was really interesting considering that the group obviously was more knowledgeable of the law than the average E Magazine watcher.]  I also studied Scientific Evidence during that time, so watching Court TV, the OJ trial, the scientific experts (blood spatter, DNA testing, etc.) was all very interesting.  It helped give classwork a real-world application, rather than merely theory and reading cases.

Personally, I think Court TV is a much better way to spend your TV-watching time than, say, Idol or Wheel.  You'll learn something.

How did you know it is my favorite channel? I love Foresnic Files but my very favorite is: Body of Evidence with Dale Hinman. She is amazing how she figures out the clues.
