  1. You don't really know. They could be setting up for FA. It really matters what they do in the next week.

I have been pretty disappointed with their teams the last few years. Despite a similar payroll they have very poor teams on ice.

I really can't wait for them to get good so that people can actually see how good Anze Kopitar really is. I think they could go a long way by getting one big name forward to take the focus off Kopitar. I think they will after getting rid of Camalerri. Cause right now all that the other team does is focus on Kopitar and he still has great numbers, but oh what they could be.

  2. It will be hard to sign some free agents on Tuesday without a head coach! I liked what the did today with Stahl and Green for lubby. I thought playoffs last year and I was way off, I hope they can this year So. Cal hockey needs a shot in the arm. They should be strong in a few years with all the draft picks they have had lately. One last thing..........a GOALIE might be a good idea.

  3. I like what they're doing. I don't think they'll be a playoff team next year (maybe I'm wrong!) but 2-4 years down the road they'll be a helluva team. They have some young guys with hot talent.

  4. They are getting rid of VETS with pricey Contracts and /or guys they have no chaqnce of resigning next year! Wise move.... they have a bunch of young guys with thalent on their team and in the minors. IF they make the right moves, they could be a playoff team regularly in a few years.

I LIKE THEY DIRECTION they are taking! Seems to me they are building for 2 to 3 to 4 years away... and that my foriend makes you a consistant tteam, if you make the right moves.

  5. I don't know what you're talking about.......?

  6. LA sucks....so no!

Seriously.............I thought they gave up on Cammalleri too soon.  When I heard Lombardi say that thew wouldn't be able to afford him when his contract came up.............that literally floored me..........although seeing Malone's contract tells me that Cammalleri can get $11-$12MM easy..........

Los Angeles is similar to their basement dwelling brethren in Tampa in that their goaltending is suspect.  I think Bernier has the tools to be a great goaltender, but I think he needs someone to study under first.  I'm hoping that Lombardi is going to solve the goaltending problem soon.

Last year, LA started the year with a very good defence on paper...Preissing, Stuart, Blake, Visnovsky make an excellent top 4.  Frolov, Brown, Handzus, Cammalleri, Nagy and Kopitar formed the nucleus of two very good offensive lines.  However the rest of the team let these guys down, and Crawford's inability to patch things up led to bigger holes.

I'm not sure that LA could afford to lose Visnovsky.  Johnson, Preissing, and Green are your best defensemen.  Unless they know that they have Campbell or Redden in the bag, and Drew Doughty is Paul Coffey, Ray Bourque, Bobby Orr, and Scott Stevens all rolled into one AND NHL ready for October, this team is still in trouble defensively.

Again, offensively this team has talent.  But when they donlt have the puck, they are still in trouble.

    1) They have an excellent young offensive nucleus that is playoff calibre

    2) They have drafted well in recent years with the likes of Kopitar, Doughty, Bernier, etc and hopefully these will pay off soon.

    3) They need to trade/sign an excellent goaltender capable of stealing games on a regular basis

    4) They need to shore up the defense now!, and resigning Rob Blake is not the answer, although he's a steadying force.

    5) Having a coach in play to mesh with all these players will help too.
