Do you live in England?

How are the politics over there? Liberal? What about the style of living and the culture? I'm from the South in America but I'm really out of place here. I want to go somewhere with lots of rich philosophy and culture. The history intrigues and I don't know any other language so I figured England would be a good European place to start!

  1. I don't live there but I've been there several times.

They have a lot of liberal socialism there and that has depressed the economy quite a bit.  It's a country rich in tradition and history.  It's very charming to visit.  The people there are very nice and love visitors.  You'd have a great time there.

I've talked to a lot of people there who are concerned about the decline in their economy due to extreme liberalism and they tell me they hope the same doesn't happen to the US.

Unfortunately, we may be next in line.  We have socialist democrats in congress deliberately standing in the way of improving our economy by not letting us drill for oil domestically.  And there's nothing we can do about it.

  2. England is a great place to vist, full of history, London the capital of England is a must, has is Bath, Strafford upon Avon, Cambridge, Oxford & York.

You must also vist the English Lake District, The North Yorkshire Moors, the Peak District, the Cotswolds & The Yorkshire Dales, the Pennines, the Ribble Valley & Englands Garden & the Home Counties.

For a break near the Sea try, Cornwall, Devon, Brighton & the South downs, England has some fantastic coast line, you must go to Northumberland to.

We have a labour government at the moment, with a Scottish Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, and he is trying to ruin England.

We English are a very friendly bunch, we like a laugh, love going to the Pub with friends, we love our Sunday lunch, Roast Beef & all the Veg with Yorkshire puds,

You must try a full English breakfast to,

We love Football & a lot of other different sports, Ruby, Cricket, Golf, Darts, Pool, Snooker etc,

The English love to do their Gardens & DIY at the weekend, we also love our Cars & Holidays, our weather is a bit hit & miss, but if we get sun in the next few months, you we find nowhere better, enjoy your trip to Europe.

  3. Tip: Come to Scotland. ;)

  4. We currently have a labour government over here though this may well change at the next election if they dont get there fingers out. Everything is expensive such as petrol ( £5+ per gallon ) Gas ( the heating type ) electricity and the council tax that currently costs £120 per month is the tax we pay to have our rubbish removed. We are also taxed on absolutely everything by our government and the British people have just about had enough of it.Apart from all that England is a great place and our standard of living is still good and the country is full of culture and great places to see.

  5. The politics are liberal and democratic, compared to most places in the world, but since we British have raised whingeing to art form (and we'd get the gold if it was an Olympic sport) you wouldn't guess it if you are not used to the English way of doing things.

That definitely includes the dry and ironical senses of humour.

For a small country we manage a vast range of different lifestyles and cultures.  Sometimes several in the same place.

London for opera and football fans, merchant bankers and street markets.

History we have lots of.  My cottage is 325 years old, and that doesn't rate any special listing or preservation order. It's not even the oldest house in the village.

But that's rural Cornwall.  It's hardly all like that either.

Come and see the country.  Or at least some of it.
