I'm moving to Naples, Italy in a few months. Can any one tell me what to expect? How different is Italy from the U.S.? I'm moving to the navy base there, will there be a language barrier? Will I be looked at differently because of my race? (1/2 white 1/2 filipino)

  1. i live in a small town in north italy... some place in italy are wonderful some others less... Naples lately is not as beautiful as the last years becouse of the rubbish however the sea and the monuments are always exceptional!! i think you'll not have  language barriers!!! remember to drive on the right!!!

  2. i'm from naples.

don't expect anything, just live your journey here.

differences are many, in lifestyle, food, fun... everything, but generally, my american friends in NATO (where i suppose you are going to work) love it. someone wanna live here longer.

language barrier not on work, couse they speak english, in the city... yes, but it's correct and full of respect, learning the language of the country you are going to live in, so, have some italian lessons.

don't care about how you look different, we don't care.

    ciao.

  3. hi marie... i live in Milan... naples is an amazing city! people are very funny, warm and friendly! don't be scared about your race, there are many guys like you even in naples and this won't be a problem ;o)

i think you'll have some problems with the language, if you don't know italian, but you got time to learn someting!

well actualy, at this moment naples it's very dirty and stinky because of litters, garbage and so on...

it is a lovely city, said goethe, and it's such a shame it is not properly cured...

i hope something changes about it...

  4. I guess it would be great if you could learn how to make a basic conversation, as many Italians (expecially old people) don't speak english at all; anyway don't be worried about your phisical appearance; nobody cares. Enjoy your trip!

    PAY ATTENTION TO...

trickers!!(it's full of ppl NOT ONLY ITALIAN that might steal u something..)

    Camorra...(it's a local mafia...)

Trash!! (Napoly is snowed under with waste at the moment!but a new dump is ready to be built!)

    ENJOY...

  6. hi marie, I'm Italian and I'm from Italy, I live in Campania....I love America and American, in Italy there isn't racism for American people, good luck and now Naples is very HOT. bye....

P.S. excuse me but  my American isn't perfect :-)

    W AMERICA AND ITALY

  7. I live in Venice, no, you will not looked at differently because of your race.
