  1. In Kansas, you need to start your own private non accredited school.  This isn't really difficult.

    You can register online.

    Good luck :D

  2. Have you tried redistricting your child?  Talk to the superintendent about schooling options.

Home schooling is an enormous responsibility. Any parent ( would-be teacher) undertaking such a vital role in their child's education must be able to instruct said child properly.  In other words, you need to be in possession of an education that will help, not hinder, the child.

If your daughter is in danger (as you have implied), GO TO THE POLICE!  Pulling your daughter out of school does not get rid of the problem.  Would you wish that kind of harm on someone else's child?

  3. I'm not in Kansas, but I was up until last year.  I HS'ed there for three years.

There are statewide virtual public schools you can use to help ease the transition from brick & mortar public school to independent HS'ing.  The *best* one, IMO, is Lawrence Virtual School:

I lived in Wichita most of my life, and the Wichita Public School system also has a virtual school,  but they use the same curriculum as the schools.

There are other virtual schools, too.

It's easy to HS in KS.  If your DD is still 6, she's not even the mandatory age for being in school.  However, you'd still want to write a notice to the school and ask for her records to be transferred to you, as the administrator of your private school (what HS's are in KS).

You can register with the State Board of Ed.  Keep a copy of the email/letter that says you've registered your school so you can use it for educator discounts to prove you're an educator.

You may want to track days in school and hours to see if you're keeping up with the KSBE rule of "186 days or 1116 hours per year" (July-June is a "School Year").

There are many great HS'ing groups in KS.  There are also many Yahoo Groups online.  I would plug into them.  The state HS assn is CHECK:

They have a huge convention in June in Wichita each year.  There is also a KC-area convention or two.

    HTH!
