Its been 2 Months of noise at least the Council finished at 4.30pm but this idiot was sanding at 9.30 last night and dragging a chair or something across a bare floor.

  1. no i live in a private rental, ive lived in council property before tho. im very surprised ur 2 yr old cant sleep thru noise. both my kids could sleep thru a bomb goin off.

  2. Maybe you could have a neighbourly chat and see if you can get them to do the noisy stuff at a certain time? They maybe dont realise how loud it sounds downstairs or that you have a child.

  3. Why not invite your new neighbours in for a coffee, give them a house warming card and then tactfully explain the problem.

    The nice approach usually works.

  4. If talking to him doesn't help, contact the noise pollution dept at your local council or the police.

  5. Maybe they dont realize how much their noise is affecting you.  Try and get friendly with them and just casually say something like "I hope we dont make too much noise, because the walls are very thin "  and see if he takes the hint.

  6. My house is an old council house.

I believe there is a ruling that states that he cant make noise after 9.00 at night - and before 9.00 in the morning.  Apart from anything else it is mega rude to do this to your neighbour.

Have a chat with him - he probably doesnt realise the problems the noise is causing you.

    Good luck

    xx
