than other religions? It seem like that. I always see so many thumbs down for anything mentioned about the Bible or God, but when someone else mentions some other religion, they get a lot of thumbs up. This is not so much on here as it is in the Religion section.

  1. It may seem as if Christianity is looked down on more because most of the United States and Europe are Christians.

The thing is, that it covers a large amount of the population and that we are all humans -- and humans make mistakes.  Therefore, by anyone following ANY religion it looks hypocritical... on the surface that is.

  2. I don't really approve of any religion, being an atheist and all. However, yes, I do look down on Christianity more than other religions. I've met too many Christians who are extremely pushy and are always trying to convince others to become Christians as well. It's annoying! I have no problem with someone of another religion-any religion-unless they try to shove it down my throat. If they respect my beliefs (or lack of), than I can respect theirs.

  3. Nope.  All religions are equally detestable, as none involves rational thought.

  4. This is awesome! I can answer my own question! I agree with myself completely! It is like we are one!

EDIT @ Bubba: I reached my maximum amount of answers so I made another profile.

  5. I agree. and i know i'll get thumbs down for this. go on (=

  6. Against all organized religion...

Ahh me and Jon have agreed three times in a row? quick did Nostradamus predict this?   LOL Rio, d**n I just washed my car!  Frog guts arnt going to help the paint.

Let me explain my statement.  I am not against spirituality, I tried for long time to be a true atheist (after leaving that catholic faith).  I don't think it is in human nature to be truly atheist, we need something to explains the Whys? that science cant explain...even with an understanding of evolution and big bang still leaves "whys?"

However "Organized" religions...are not about god.  They are not about "religion" they are a business a BIG business...and often a scam TV televangelist live like kings off the money older forks give them.  The 700 club, has a whole theme "give god money and he will repay you ten fold...if you dont get paid you didn't give enough! look these people got money back"  Its the worlds first pyramid scheme, but it's legal b/c it's non profit and for religion.

HUGE books have been written on all the evils of the Catholic church.  All the wars, all the blood spilled, sexism, racism,....all in the name of god!  Think Muslims have radicals?....they don't have jack on Christianities history.  I find it interesting that the Jew's are "god's chosen people", there has yet to be an empire that has messed with the jew's and survived.  Everyone of them has fallen.

Women cant speak to god anyway...for women don't have souls.  A Christian argument.

Edit: Rebel the Catholic Church said this for a long long time...it was the justification/explanation as to why women cant/couldn't be clergy.  Argument ended around 1700's though many women were punish, locked up or killed for preaching well into the 1800's.  It ended b/c men have souls and men are born from females.  non soul cant bear a soul.

here is another..originally priest could marry.  The church stopped that for political reasons. A man would get married and have off spring, when he died his money, property and land would go to his kids.  No marriage meant it went to the Church...one of the many ways the Church became so powerful.  Follow your own heart...but not all the looks innocent is.

  7. No - I detest them all equally.

  8. a lot of Christians have given Christianity a bad rep.

    HOLY c**p just like FEMINISM!

  9. Think about this for a minute, why do you think people believe their religion is better than the others? Why the focus on the little petty differences and ignore the big similarities?

    Simple matter of control!

If masses only pay attention to non important issues they will ignore the important ones, and so the world keeps going around while people ignore they live in a controlled environment!

  10. It seems like there is a lot of hatred for it here on Yahoo Answers from a bunch of atheists, as you can see from some of the answers you have already gotten.

I don't think this hold true to most people in the real world.

I also notice they are always saying how nice they are but yet all they leave is nasty answers, sounds like they are not a happy bunch.  They don't even believe in a spirit, we are all just a big piece of walking meat to them.  I can't understand why then hang out on the RELIGION and SPIRITUALLY board when they don't have the first and don't believe in the latter.

  11. Mention Christ or Christianity around here, and most  feministas and sensitive guys will react like demoniacs sprinkled with holy water.  Their antipathy is matched only by their complete ignorance of basic theology.  The Liberalese on this site are probably more hostile (and more unkowing) of Christianity than any tribe since the Huns.

  12. why do you have two profiles?

EDIT: well, stepford #2, it seems like a game of point gaining. if you choose yourself as your own best answer, i know that is what you're up to. you try so hard to be shown not as a troll, but this is a troll tactic.

  13. I will admit that I look down on Christianity, or some forms of it, more than other religions. Maybe it's because of my personal experiences. I was raised Southern Baptist. And through my experiences, I've found that a bigger bunch of hypocrites who hate and judge in the name of "God" are very hard to find. Now, I know that not all Christians are like Southern Baptists, and I know that not all Southern Baptists are like the ones I grew up with, but from what I've seen of others (in the media, etc) they're not as different as you would hope.

  14. Gandhi once said "I like your Christ but I don't like your Christians."

While I know not EVERYONE in one particular religion or another is bad, in general this quote sums up the way I feel about religious people.

I don't have a problem with the religious who are kind people, who don't knock on my door and criticize my wife and I for a world full of things, who don't use their religion in an argument  to "prove me wrong", the religious who don't feel it's ok to treat women poorly, the religious who don't feel it's ok to treat minorities poorly, etc. Examples like that are what make me stay away from organized religion.

From my experience, it's more important to be spiritual than religious.

I mean no disrespect to those who choose to live their lives that way but in return I expect that from them.

  15. I'm not a big fan of any organized religion, but Christianity is different.  You don't see Jews or Muslims going around to third world countries preaching their beliefs the way Christians do.  Christianity, as a whole group not any one specific person necessarily, carries itself with total arrogance.  It thinks that it is the only way and everyone else needs saving.  Thats just my take on it.

  16. "Religion is the Opiate of the Masses", Marx was dead-on.

Its all fairy tales.  And I really hate it when people try to justify their bigotry and intolerance on grounds of their religious dogma (whichever flavour of dogma it may be).

  17. Religion is a good way to scam people out of money. I don't look down on religion... I just laugh at people who look up to it.

It shows the percentage of the population that is of average intelligence or below. No person of superior intelligence would ever follow a religion.

  18. i'm an athiest. i don't care for any of them.

  19. No, I look down on them all equally.

EDIT TO UNTAMED ROSE: I think there's an ancient scroll buried somewhere that says if this happens, frogs will fall from the sky.

  20. I don't look down on anyone's beliefs because I don't want to be looked down at for mine... doesn't always work but heck i still try... i don't want to judge so i try not to judge...what a person does to better themselves i am all for...

  21. You're the second person I've inspired to ask a question like this.

I guess it's hard to look down on Christianity when I am a Christian.

Sometimes when I answer a question that says something positive about Christians I'll say something like that about expecting thumbs down.  Suddenly they stop.  I guess people don't want to be called out on it.  Hey I really don't care, I just find it funny and a little sad.

Julie's absolutely right.  Also, I'm against religion in the sense that it's a man-made way to try to reach God.  It's not quite the same thing as a relationship with God.

I didn't say anything about waiting for thumbs down on this one, and boy I'm getting them here.  I know how to keep them from happening now.

Untamed Rose- Who says women don't have souls?  I've never heard that one before.

I knew the priests and marriage thing, but not the women and souls thing.  I also thought you meant this was being taught now, although I wouldn't be surprised if it was somewhere.  The Bible doesn't say that anywhere at all though, in fact it says the complete opposite.  It was another s***w-job by the Church.

  22. No, I disdain them all equally.

We may be in agreement, Rose, but a TD for you is obligatory and you know why.

Disdain means, " beneath ones notice " Taglo.

Why all this persecution complex BS from christers?

  23. I probably look down on Christianity more only because that's the religion I’m most familiar.  I grew up in a really small town and the only religious centers they had were Christian churches and the majority of the people I know also come from (other) small towns and the only religious centers they had were Christian churches.  Therefore, all the bad, maniacal, ludicrous, and insane things I've heard people say about religion have almost always been about Christianity.

Given the troubles of America today, we're starting to hear more about Muslims on the news and their religion sounds pretty awful too.  However, it's not first hand data.  It's information that has been filtered through the news media and focused for a specific audience for a particular agenda.  Don't really know how much you can believe.

  24. I look down on people who try to justify something that is ethically wrong in terms of their religion. And religious hypocrites.

And people who make arguments that are false and deny facts because of their religion.

Because the people who I see do this are usually Christians I look down on them the most often.

Personally I'm not religious but I don't have a problem with most people who are. I don't like organised religion in general.

  25. Nope...I don't really look down on folks who abide by any code of conduct.  It's a hard road.

I do look down upon those who claim a code for others and do not abide it themselves.

  26. While I know a lot of decent devout Christians, the majority suffer from the behaviour of a few.

The only problem I have is when any group tries to tell you how to live. Not everyone believes in the Bible and they do not understand that this government is not based on the Bible.

  27. I don't look down on Christianity, but I do loathe and laugh at fundamentalists of any kind.

  28. I see a lot of dislike to Muslims, more then Christians. I'm a Christian, and although it does... irritate me, I've learned to leave it. No comment about that. Just my opinion. :]

  29. As a Christian, no I can't say that I do. I won't look down upon anyone based on their religious beliefs (Christian, Jew, Muslim, atheist, etc.) I'll sit down with anyone that wants to talk about any religion. I think it can be done respectfully if all parties can agree to disagree. I will say that I'm not a fan of fundamentalists from any religion.

I'm a Christian and a feminist. I get flack from both sides (not necessarily on YA!). I'm okay with it. Not looking for approval from anyone.

  30. I look down on Christianity because of what I have seen myself. I grew up in one of those fire and brimstone "you're going to h**l" churches, only to find out later that a relative of mine who happened to be the associate paster was having an affair with the preacher's wife!!!

They God and Jesus to instill fear and control over others. And that's not what Christianity is about.
