  1. i lost 5 pounds. but i wasnt overweight anyway.

  2. No. Vegetarianism is not a weight loss regime, and there are vegetarians of all shapes and sizes - from much too thin to much too fat - just as there are meat-eaters  of all shapes and sizes.

Losing weight depends on how healthily you are eating and how much exercise tou take. You can lose weight as efficiently on a diet that includes meat as on a vegetarian diet.

In the course of my life I've been a meat-eater, a vegetarian and a vegan (in that order); at different times I've lost and put on weight as all three.

  3. You lose weight by burning more calories than you consume.

Vegetarian food can have just as many calories other food.

You can eat healthy whether you're vegetarian or not.

  4. you can, but you have to be careful because by becoming a vegetarian, you can lack a lot of nutrients you get from meat. Like protein.  you need to find a way to make up for these in different foods.

  5. I'd say you are more likely to lose weight if you are very overweight. We're all different and we all have a different ideal weight - and a vegetarian diet tends to bring you closer to this ideal weight. I used to be very skinny as an omni, but now I am a bit closer to average.

  6. I don't think I lost any weight when I went vegetarian. I may have actually gained weight, but that was because I stopped exercising. When I went from vegetarian to vegan, I lost 10 pounds.

  7. Yes you might lose wieght. If you are overwieght you become just right, if you were underwieght you become just right. Bieng vegetarian is very healthy. I does not make you too skinny or anything, despite the rumors. If you want info on the health benifits of going veggie/vegan check out

  8. I went from 135 to 127 when I went veggie. I'm 5'7'' and wasn't overweight, but I did lose a few pounds I didn't know I was carrying around.

  9. i actually gained a couple pounds, but only because i was missing meat and started pigging out on other stuff and eating ALOT at night b/c i was hungry and got close to being overweight by a couple pounds : (.

Now i've gone vegan and started excersising regularly and have lost a good bit of weight.

  10. Weight loss isn't completely dependant on *what* you eat, but how many calories you eat. If you want to lose weight you need to reduce the calories you consume, or burn more calories through exercise. A combination of weights training and cardio is good for weight loss.

For me I didn't lose any weight at all. It did take a bit of getting used to switching from veg to vegan though. My tummy was a little funny for a while, but I got over it pretty quick I think it was just a matter of adapting to my new diet. I think it's because of the increased fibre and eliminating dairy. But everyone's body reacts differently.

  11. no not all people do. like me, i didnt lose anyweight, but im not overweight anyway,

  12. Actually in most cases vegetarians gain a couple pounds mostly because they have lost their intake of meat but if you replace your meat intake with nuts and beans you should be okay. becoming vegetarian does not mean you lose weight its just an alternative way of living not necessarily healthier. if you want ot lose weight try some cardio like running or even an hour of pilates or yoga

  13. It depends.  If you eat strictly fruits and vegetables, you should lose weight, unless you completely gorge yourself on them.  You also need to eat protein like in nuts and beans.  If you currently eat a lot of fast food and high fat food, you should definitely lose weight.

  14. if your want to be vegetarian just  to lose weight. your are going be disappointed.  what make you lose or gain weight is the intake and burning of calories that you do.

indifferently from where those calories came from.

it doesn't matter if is from plant base or animal base.

people become vetarians mostly because they want to be healthy.

vegetarian have  a better immunological system  to fight cancer , diabettes etc, etc.

many other become vegetarian because they love  animals.

and there agaist the condition of animal who are raise to serve as meat. www.peta.org.
