Well, i know I shouldn't be doing this but since i've gotten the rubber bands on my braces very recently, i've been taking them on and off. Well i'm going to try not to do that anymore. Well i heard that if you take off the rubber bands and then put them back on its like starting all over again through the whole process. Well, dont you have to take off the rubber bands to eat, doesnt that make you lose progress too?

  1. It depends on how long the bands are off, really, but I would just stick with wearing them when your orthodontist tells you. I was told to wear this band in the front of my mouth 24/7, but I have to take it out to eat and brush my teeth since its in the front of my mouth, but I think orthodontists plan on that.

Basically, if not for eating or brushing your teeth, I would keep the bands in.

  2. yes, you are right. You keep doing that & all your teeth are going to drop.

  3. I'm assuming you mean the rubber bands that pull the top jaw together to the bottom jaw.

It depends on the length of time that the rubber bands are removed.  However, if only remove it just to eat, this shouldn't be a problem.  Usually, people only wear the rubber bands during night.

It's not completely 'starting over', but it might loose a bit of progress because the support is gone.

You should wear it at night, and not remove it for a long period of time.  However, always listen to your orthodontist.

I hope this helped a bit.

  4. okay keep them on and you will make better progress. I would only take them off to eat then brush before putting them back in. The longer you keep them in the quicker your teeth will adjust . good luck
