Do you lose your home when you enter a nursing facility?

l have been told that when you age and get very ill and have to go to a nursing facility that you will lose your home. Does anyone know if this is true or not? l live in Texas if that makes a difference. Thank You in advance.

but it would be pointless to keep paying for a house that you dont live in

NOt if its in a family trust...remember that. talke to an atty why before time. or mgt it to he heilt and thay wont want it.

depends on if you can afford to pay for your stay -- if so no --- now in some cases you can sign over the house and medicare will pick up tab!!!
