  1. well it is probally basically the same but if you put it on ebay you can bid it off and stuff the only way you could do that on craigslist is if you say bidding starts at _____ and then people will give you bids ya know?

  2. I've been selling on eBay for about 2 months and it is tough to make any money.  I tried selling several items and the established competition is extremely cut throat about anyone entering their turf.  Basically, I consider the site more like a Internet garage sale.

  3. I have been selling on eBay for about a year and I've found that it is more efficient and pays higher than craigslist.

    1. eBay is more easily accessible and easily searchable

    2. all craigslist listings look the same and are focused mainly on local sales whereas eBay is international

    3. eBay has careful policies on sales so you are less likely to get ripped off

    4. eBay allows you to calculate shipping into your price so that you are not losing money on shipping

    5. Craigslist is focused by area, so someone in New York doesn't see listings from Virginia, whereas eBay makes your products available and viewable to any user anywhere

    6. Craigslist is relatively unprofessionally designed, as you cannot see how many bidders there are, since it's commonly a fixed price listing.

    7. eBay shows views, bids, and watchers, so you can see how many people have viewed and are interested in your item

    8. Craigslist features your item on a date basis, so people are less likely to see your listing the next day or day after that, whereas eBay allows you to specify length of listing such as 5 days, 7 days, or 10 days, and allows you to relist your item with listing fees waived when there are no bidders your first attempt but make the sale your second attemot

    9. eBay also allows you to specify categories in more detail than Craigslist, making a sale more likely.

    10. eBay also has relatively low listing prices for the amount of exposure your item gets. It also has a feature called "buy it now or best offer" which means you can set a high price, and people can make offers to you that are lower than your specified price. You can even block bids you think are too low!
