  1. absolutely.  .  Not so many rules and regulations.  They really raced!!! HARD.      And that makes the drivers today look like they are going for a Sunday stroll.

  2. I loved the 90s. People were not afraid to race, and everyone went out to win, not ride around for points. Wallace, Labonte, Gordon, and Earnhardt were all big rivals then and it was fun to watch them beat and bang every week.

  3. no i dont. it sucked

  4. I didn't follow it closely in the 90s...so, not really.

  5. Before everything became so politically correct, and a driver could say things like "If you hit me once, I'll hit you back, if you hit me twice, I'll put you in the wall" (Rusty) and the whole nascar community cheered him instead of throwing hissy fits and acting like he was threatening other drivers and should be parked?

When rubbin' was racin' and it was a "move or be moved" mentality?

I hadn't thought about it, yup, I think I miss it!

My favorite memory of 90's nascar was the friendly family rivalry we had me and my husband Earnhardt fans, my mother in-law a Gordon fan, and my father in-law a Wallace fan, we'd go over to their house every Sunday to watch the race (still do)

and the trash talking would commence!

    Ahh....I feel old!

  6. I agree with Jay, I liked the80s better too (Go awesome Bill), but didn't have cable so only got to see the races ABC or CBS carried. It seemed so much more real than today's watered-down version is. The only ray of hope so far is Wild Thing, he seems just like Earnhardt Sr. was back in them days.

    Pray for the trolls!

  7. Got kicked out of the infield at Pocono on Saturday night before the race.. I think it was 99'. Security escorted me out and I drove home in chilly temps drunk as a skunk with no doors or top for the Jeep I owned at the time because they were at my friends motorhome. Then just my luck Sundays race was cancelled because of rain.  The next day Mayfield bumped Sr coming off turn 3 and won by giving him a taste of his own medicine and I missed it.  Ahh those were the days.

  8. You mean back before it was the IROC series?  Definitely.

  9. Actually, I miss the 80s the most. The 90s were the beginning of the downfall. The 80s were pretty exciting.

  10. Mostly, yes.  I like some of the aspects of TV coverage better now, especially the running tickers.  I watched some of a race on ESPN Classic recently and could barely stand not having it up there.

But generally, NASCAR was better in the 90's than it is today.  The racing was better for the most part.  Racing was still the main focus then, unlike the show and advertising that's taken over now.

My favorite memory is when Dale Jarrett won the championship, although the two things I remember best were when he won the Daytona 500 in 1993 (first NASCAR race I really ever watched) and when Dale Earnhardt won the Daytona 500 (since it's been replayed about 700,000 times).

  11. Yes, I do. I wonder how today's drivers that started in the new millenium would fare in the NASCAR of the 90s. The two moments I remember the most is the neck to neck race at Atlanta in 1992 between Bill Elliott and Alan Kulwicki and Dale Earnhardt winning the Daytona 500 and his seventh championship.

  12. Yes of course. They drove real race cars.

  13. If your talking about the early 90s yes i do.........

I was a huge Earnhardt Sr. fan but the memories i have were bad ones like cuttin down a tire at Daytona giving Derrick Cope the win and also Earnhardt hitting that seagull at daytona........
