Do you necessarily need to have a child to start a 529 plan yet?

Like they always say, you can never start too soon to save for college. Just curious if you need to have a child yet to start saving for college? I'm going with Ohio's plan (am a resident). Also, I'm still considering going back to school one day for myself. Can I use it for that? And if you get financial assistance like an assistantship, can it be used for books? Thanks everyone!

  1. yes you will need the ss number of the child!!!


  2. You can start a 529 plan for yourself.  When the child is born, you then switch the money to the child's 529 plan.
