  1. I don't recommend adoption for singles.  The reason has nothing to do with their relationship status, it has to do with the needs of the adopted child, especially if that child is between the age of 0-3 yrs.

An adopted child has already experienced and has to endure one abandonment.  Unless the adopting parent can stay at home with the child for at least a year (preferably longer), that child will suffer the fear of another abandonment and will have a great deal of trouble attaching.

  2. Adoptions are governed by state law. Check the legal requirements of your state. http://www.law.cornell.edu/topics/Table_...

  3. Need?  Well you NEED to people to make a child--doesn't it stand to reason that 2 parents are better than one in adoption matters?

  4. Singles can adopt

Two non married people can co-adopt.

It really just depends on the agencies/ state regulations for adoption.

  5. It depends on the agency you use. Some require it here in the US. I know single friends who adopted from China, too

  6. You do not have to be married to adopt a child, however preference is sometimes given to a two parent home.  Some domestic private adoptions provide the opportunity to expectant mother to select the parent or parents for their child.  In addition some agencies will only work with married couples.

There are no laws in place that forbid singles from adoption and  I know MANY singles who have adopted children.

In respect to international adoption some countries forbid singles from adopting while others allow it with no preference over a single parent vs. married couple household.

  7. In the US you do NOT need two parents. If there are two parents they do NOT need to be adopted, but it helps.

  8. not at all u can still adopt

  9. Yes you can but you better be able to prove your a stand man or woman and having a real nice house with lots of money helps.

  10. some agencies  require you to be married, some don't. But if you are a non-married couple living together, then only one of you can legally adopt a child.

  11. In the US you can adopt if you are single, but you'll have to proove that you are able to handle responsablities of a child on your own. The adults don't have to be married. My sister just adopted a baby girl and she's single.

  12. you can be single and adopt. Tons of info on the internet.

  13. It isn't required by law.  However, several private agencies and attorneys choose to only work with couples.
