Do you need a 1080p HD TV to play a PS3?

You can use a standard tv. It's pretty pointless to buy a PS3 if you don't plan on upgrading soon because you won't notice a difference in game graphics and blu rays will look like standard dvds. The PS3 looks great on any hi-def format. I have my ps3 connected to my 32'' Vizio via HDMI and it's a 1080i set and it looks stunning. But if you don't have an HDTV of any kind and aren't planning on  upgrading, then don't get a PS3.

You can use a standard HD TV , but if you want to see the blu-ray technology in it's true form , the PS3  will need to be connected to a 1080p screen using a HDMI cable.

No you dont but if you do its alot better !

If you buy 1080p TV then its Furture Safe , Also it only will cost you say £100 extra and most 42 inc plasma only cost around £800 1200 these days and thats Cheap for something that is very nice to look at .
