Do you need a Hi-Def TV for the Blu-Ray Disk Player?

When you buy the player and a dvd, will it appear in Hi-Def as long as it is on the player or does the player need to be hooked up to a hi-def tv to play in hi-def.

Blu-Ray plays on both Tv's but  to see  Hd - dvds  on your Blu-Ray player you will need to buy a  Hi-Def Tv. that way  you could see your Hd movies at it's best. with the best picture and sounds  that you could not get a non Hi-Def Tv

The BD player supports standard-def TVs, but you can watch HD only on an HD TV.
