I know Monster cables are way overpriced and don't have the super quality they say they do.(I use no more than 3-4 ft. of cable so i really do not need a monster cable). When i bought my Samsung LN-46A650 this morning the employee at Circuit City told me I needed the 1000HD Monster cable to run my Blu-Rays in 120Hz. I was skeptical and didnt purchase it, but i wonder if he was right because the info on the tv says its running 1920 x 1080 @60Hz, and @ 24Hz during a movie. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  1. They make more money on the cable than the TV sale.

The TV only accepts 60 hz, signals (it's part of the spec), but the TV draws the screen twice to help reduce motion blur. This happens in the TV, not along the cable.

So the sales guy is using "junk science" to get you to buy an over-priced cables.

My long cable came from www.bluejeanscables.com.  It ran about $40.

I bought shorter cables for about $7 each to feed my HDMI switch from www.monoprice.com

  2. Monster cables are overkill for most home systems, especially in the shorter lengths you are using.  Any good quality HDMI 3.1 cable should work fine.  Belkin and Blue Jeans both make pretty good mid-range cables and are a lot cheaper.  Save your money.
