  1. maybe not on post but you should get one so on your off time you can go explore the area. much interesting things to see and do in new england

  2. It depends on if you're planning on living on base or out in the community. If you want to live off base then I would recommend having a car.

  3. No.  Everything you need is within walking distance on base.  There are also buses if you want to catch a ride out in town.  Or you can hook up with another Coastie if you want to do something out in town.  You would be smart financially to skip the car thing for a long while.  Save that money in a high yield savings account and you will notice how rich you are after a few months of saving your money on things you don't need versus the other people that spend nearly their entire months pay on a car payment and car insurance.  On base you have food, shopping and tons of fun things to keep you busy.  Video games, a movie theater, computers bowiling, tons of sports stuff, a gym to work out in.  The possibilities are endless if you think about it.

  4. no

  5. nah, but a bicycle would be handy

  6. The only reason I can think of that you would need such specific information, is that you are going to be stationed there.  In that case you should have a sponsor to answer this question, or you should contact the base.  The odds of you finding someone who is/has been stationed there on here is remote at best, and anyone else is just guessing.

See - more guesses, and a no vote?  Coast Guard bases are not like other military bases, so again, just a bunch of guesses here.
