Do you need a certain size or type of jig to wacky rig?

Nope. For bass I'll wacky rig with no weight at all... just the weight of my Senko and the hook...never even tried with a jig or any type of weight, and it works reliably.

Less weight is better to me. Water depth will determine your size. Deeper the water more weight you will prefer.

You must have a decent sizable thingamabob for the shizzle to jingle. Rig or no rig.

Just a hook works best and won't hinder the action of your rig, (the whole point of wacky rigging!).
