My boyfriend knows everything about computers and is practically a computer genius. But he works at a crappy factory job. He wants to get a job dealing with computers. Does he need to get a degree first? Or can he just go to computer repair shops or pc/tech places in town and look for jobs there?

  1. He may be better off just starting his own side business because most computer tech support jobs do want to see academic credentials.

Once he builds up his own clientele and is known to be competent and professional, between word of mouth and having some business cards made up, he may be able to support himself and do it full-time after word gets out.
