  2. Yes you can. That's the way I have it set up.

  3. With Windows Yeah But With Mac NO WAY!

  4. No, there is no need to have a desktop computer on your network. There is no meaningful difference between a desktop and a laptop in this context. If you need to configure the router without using wireless, you can always plug your laptop directly into the router.

  5. Yes, you can.  The router does not need a "host" to operate.  However you will need to set up the router and the best way to do that is with a cable to a computer - any computer, even your laptop.  After it is set up, you may disconnect the wired computer.

Remember to set up the security features on the wireless router!

  6. yh

  7. You sure can !

  8. All you need is a modem so the router has a source for internet

  9. Yes it can be done...As a matter of fact I recently had called my internet provider to see if I could get wireless to replace the wires that run from laptop...they said YES and its only $7.00 more a month.  Cool deal and am planning on be wire free soon!

  10. no. u could use ur laptop

  11. nah, your laptop will work fine... the router will come with an installation cd that will explain everything very clearly,  your friends most likely just have the desktops connected directly to the routers as most desktops sdo not come with wireless capability.

  12. Yes. As long as you have a matching wireless PC notebook adapter. I use a Netgear WGT624VZ 108 Mbps wireless router, which is connected to my Netopia DSL modem. Then, after installing the software that accompanied my Netgear WG511T wireless PC card, I inserted the card into the proper port and followed the the rest of the installation wizard instructions to complete the wireless connection.

It's great! Now I can use my laptop in any room of the house or out on the deck overlooking a beautiful lake on a pleasant day.

    I hope that this helps.

  13. Absolutely

  14. Well, it depends both on the laptop and the router. Like my linksys had ot be connected to my desktop computer (this linksys):
