My sister just bought a new Mazda 5 and is selling me her old car. I was wondering if I need a drivers license in order for the title of the car to be signed over to me.I got my permit earlier this month and don't have a drivers license yet.

  1. I know of no law, in any USA state that says in order to own a car you must also have a drivers license.  Drivers licenses are for driving a car, not for owning a car.  There are many, many people who have no license but own cars, register cars, insure cars and have someone else chauffeur them around in their cars

  2. In ohio you have to show your drivers lic. when you go to get temp tags or plates for a vehicle. You wont have a problem having the title signed over to you but you will have problems getting plates.
