Do you need a firearms certificate to keep and use Flintlock guns

Hi, I have been wanting to buy a flintlock rifle and wondered if i first need to get a firearms certificate to keep this type of gun.I live in the UK

  1. well , i have also been looking at this , to keep it as a curio you do not need a licence , nor does the gun need to be de-activated. fireing the flintlock would void your right to own the flintlock , technically you would be breaking the law even by just owning amunition for the gun .If you intend to use the gun you would need a FAC (firearms certifficate)these are trivial and expensive and to have one for owning a flintlock would mean you would have to have a black powder licience also. Black powder on the other hand requires you to have a licence , its something like the licience is free as long as it is  used in a year. then you can purchase a licence valid for three years for three pounds which allows you to aquire and keep the black powder for three years
