  1. This year the state is currently offering a "fish for free from state parks" program.

    This means you can fish for free from a state park or in bodies of water that are fully contained within a state park. For example you could fish Joe Pool Lake from the bank at Cedar Hill State Park

    but if you wanted to fish on a boat in Joe Pool Lake or from one of the municipal Joe Pool parks

    you will still need a license.

    Also, despite not needing a license you do still need to follow species specific limits (size requirements, bag limits, etc.) and all other fishing regulations.
