  1. if you have a ps3 you can play them on that to a standard tv but you will lose some picture quality.

  2. no... you won't notice much of a difference on an SD tv though.  when you watch a bluray disc on an HD tv your eyes will bleed...

  3. Well, technically no. The discs will display on your TV. But you'd be wasting your money buying a BlueRay player and BlueRay discs if you can't display their high resolution.

In fact, even regular DVDs look better on an HD set if played through an upconverting player.

  4. Yes and no. Blu-ray Disc is a High Definition format that is made for high Definition Tvs. However, if you connect a Blu-ray player to a Standard definition tv, you are defying the purpose of Blu-ray. At that point, it is NO better than a standard DVD. The Blu-ray player will downscale to maximum 480p on a SDTV. You would be wasting your money on a Blu-ray player (avg around $450) and buying expensive blu-rays (avg $25) on something you can't even take advantage of. So yes you can see it, but it's pointless to buy one unless you have an HDTV. Hope this helps.

  5. No you don't but the extreme high quality will be lost on a regular screen.
