Do you need a high-definition tv to use a Blu-Ray Player?

im thinking about buying a blu ray player, but we don't have a high-definition tv. will the player still work on our digital tv?

  1. It depends it will only play on TVs with an HDMI part. Who knows you might get lucky. So if you can find a standard TV with an HDMI you can use it dought it though


  2. it will still work on a normal digital tv, but it won't look any better than dvds. there is no point in getting blu ray if u don't have hdtv.

  4. Blu-ray players can be connected to normal TVs (They generally have a range of output connections including normal composite outputs (Yellow RCA)), BUT won't give an HD picture. There will be a slight benefit from a broader colour range (Blu-ray vs DVD), and if you have good audio equipment you can get improved audio, BUT it's not worthwhile to buy a Blu-ray player unless you have an ~40" or larger HDTV and, preferably, a good surround sound system.
