I am wanting to buy an Eclectus and I live in Victoria. I was just wondering if you need to have a liscence to own one?

I am 14 so would I be the liscence person or would my Dad?

Thanks heaps for your help!

  1. I guess that you can own it.

  2. I don't believe the person asking the question was saying they're gonna take one from the wild, especially since they're not native to that particular part of AU.

Yes you need a license for them.

The breeders are not required to be registered for most parts of the country but I'm not sure about Vic. The license is fairly cheep & easy to get hold of.

  3. you need to buy the parrot from a registered breeder
