  1. you will probably need a "loser" license as well

  2. You need class M2 motorcycle license in California for a something like a Zuma, it will be registered as a  motorcycle here.

Here is the info from the DMV

    (5) (A) Class M2 includes the following:

    (i) A motorized bicycle or moped, or a bicycle with an attached motor, except a motorized bicycle described in subdivision (b) of Section 406.

For DMV purposes a motorized "scooter" is one of those boards you stand on and push with your foot.

  3. Yes, you need a motorcycle license to drive a scooter.

  4. Almost certainly, you need a license to operate any motor vehicle in the state of California.  Heck, in California, it won't be long before you'll need a license along with a daily fee just to walk out of the house in the morning!  Isn't that true?  Wow!

  6. no

  7. Let's see what the official California DMW web site says:

There are two classes of motorcycle licenses, Class M1 and Class M2.

With a Class M1, you can operate any 2-wheel motorcycle and any motorized vehicle in Class M2.

With a Class M2, you can only operate any motorized bicycle or moped or any bicycle with an attached motor.

Effective January 1, 2006, you may operate a motorized scooter with a Class M1 or M2 driver license. Prior to January 1, 2006, you must have a Class C or higher driver license to operate a motorized scooter.

A motorized scooter is defined as: A two-wheeled "device" powered by a motor with a floorboard that is designed to stand on when riding. The scooter may also have a driver’s seat.
