No you do not. However as early as Jan. of 2008 you might. They still haven't set a firm date.

Passports are not needed for LAND travel to and from Mexico until somewhnere between jan. 2008 and June 2009.  Specific date has not been released yet.  See website below to read the law for yourself.  scroll down to section on "Land and Sea Requirements."

Yes.  But the question should be why the h**l would you come back by foot?

You do not currently need a passport to enter or leave Mexico on foot.  I cross the border often on foot.  Just have a photo ID, like a driver's license.

not till 2009.  if you fly or cruise to mexico now you will need a passport.
